It is a short 10 minute walk into Caterham town centre which has a station with direct trains into London.

for people travelling from abroad.
Caterham School has two distinct boarding houses – the Main School Boarding House and Beech Hanger Boarding House. Both are available for external lets in the Easter, Summer and October Half Term holidays. The boarding houses can be hired individually or together. As standard, we have 169 beds across both boarding houses, which can be increased to a maximum of 235 with additional hire beds. Full board packages are available as meals can be provided in our on-site dining hall.
With exceptional on site facilities, including classrooms, a fully equipped sports centre, theatre and drama spaces and sports fields, Caterham School is the perfect venue to host your residential group booking.
The boarding house provides comfortable and well-equipped sleeping quarters over two floors, designed to offer a sense of privacy and personal space while fostering a communal atmosphere. Rooms are typically shared, promoting camaraderie and friendships among boarders.
In addition to the sleeping quarters, the Main Boarding House features a variety of social areas where students can relax, socialize, and unwind after a busy day. These include common rooms with cosy seating, televisions, and games, as well as study areas where students can collaborate on schoolwork. The house also offers dedicated spaces for activities, such as a kitchen for snacks, and outdoor spaces for sports and recreation.
The Main School house is boys boarding during the term time, but can be split into girls and boys by separate floors.
Made up of 57 bedrooms in total across two floors and one small annex building, where 38 of those bedrooms have Ensuite bathrooms, the set up allows 102 beds as standard.
Should you require further beds there are certain bedrooms which can have additional hire beds added to them to increase the bed capacity up to 148 maximum.
The Main School has multiple social spaces for boarders to relax after a day of fun and learning, including a traditional hall situated on the ground floor of the Main Boarding House below the bedrooms making it easy to access for evening group activities. It has a built in projector and screen with easy to use audio visual facilities for movie nights and quizzes.
Beech Hanger Boarding House offers a warm and welcoming environment, designed to provide a true home-from-home experience for boarders. Spread across multiple floors, the sleeping quarters are comfortable, with a mix of shared and individual rooms that strike a balance between privacy and the opportunity to build strong friendships.
The house features inviting communal spaces where students can relax, connect, and unwind. These include a vibrant common room with cosy sofas, TVs, and games. A well-equipped kitchen allows boarders to prepare snacks, while outdoor spaces offer room for recreation and fresh air.
Beech Hanger boarding house is used by the School in term time for girls boarding but can be let out in the holidays for groups of either gender or mixed.
Made up of 45 bedrooms in total, spread across three buildings, where 26 of those bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms the set up allows 67 beds as standard.
Should you require further beds there are certain bedrooms which can have additional hire beds added to them to increase the bed capacity up to 87 maximum.
Beech Hanger is privileged to have some incredible social spaces including a central “Hogwarts” style dining hall with a fully equipped modern kitchen just off it and a large lounge with plenty of sofas and a baby grand piano for entertaining.
Our boarding houses are available to hire in the Easter, Summer and October Half Term holidays.
Children can be split into genders on individual floors in the Main School boarding house. Beech Hanger is made up of 3 buildings, so genders can be allocated to separate buildings.
Yes, the Main School is accessible for coaches. Beech Hanger is not accessible for coaches, but is only a short walk from the Main School.
All our meals that are included in the Full Board are served in the refectory.
You will have exclusive use of the boarding house you have hired. If you hire only one house, your exclusive use applies to that house only. We may hire out the other house to another company.
As a general rule of thumb we do not allow self catered groups, but guests may bring some snacks for themselves while they are staying.
